The end to the 2012 show season ....

We had a lovely day at LKA Championship Show today at the N.E.C in Birmingham. Jive and myself made the trip up, as it was the last show of the year, and more importantly the last chance to qualify for Crufts. I was kept busy showing some puppies bred by Lyn Irwin, Hawk was 4th in Minor Puppy Dog and Grace was 4th in Minor Puppy Bitch, well done puppies ! After a break to do some quick shopping and chatting, I was back in the ring in Limit Bitch. This time with my dog, the ever so lovely Miss Jive Bunny, it was a strong class of 14 with 2 absent. Jive showed her little socks off, and to my utter delight was awarded 2nd qualifying her for Crufts, and thus awarding her, her Stud Book Number and Crufts qualification for life! She is the third dog I have owned to be awarded a Stud Book Number, and it feels just as exciting as if it were the first. Thank you Team Pinebank for the support today, and thank you so much to all our well wishers, it means so much. On that note, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you all in 2013 !

3 Champ shows, 3 Harlistream puppies Crufts Qualified !

Here at Harlistream we are immensely proud of our puppies and all their achievements. At South Wales Championship Show under Roz Bellamy (Woodfinch), Chance (H. Astrada) was 3rd in Minor Puppy Dog and then 1st in Puppy Dog .. both these wins qualified him for Crufts 2013. He showed beautifully and was handled to perfection by Lorraine.

Chance - Harlistream Astrada

Then at the Joint Flatcoat Championship show Percy (H. Pilara) went under Sandra Stevenson (Steelriver) in a couple of very large classes. Percy was VHC in Minor Puppy Bitch out of 17, and then 3rd in Puppy Bitch out of 14, thus Crufts qualified !! I must say a huge thank you to Anna-Victoria (Kennel Vom Wildförstersee) who showed Percy for me in both classes, she handled her so well, thank you, thank you, thank you !

So that is three Championship Shows with three Harlistream puppies Crufts qualified (Tuva - Driffield, Chance - South Wales, Percy Joint Flatcoat). We look forward to Crufts next year ! (Think the Oaksenriver's/Harlistream's/Pinebank's may take over quite a lot of benching !)

Monday 24 September 2012

So the Showing starts .....

We've been very busy with shows recently, first off we attended Driffield Championship Show held at Wetherby Racecourse. What a day that was !! We had terrible weather, it was very wet and cold, a very water logged car park (we sat and watched a car with it's wheels spinning but going nowhere!), a very cramped tent with our benching, and the tiniest ring you have EVER seen, quite surprising for an Autumn show. Our microscopic ring also had a large wet/muddy patch which did see someone slip over, all of this combined meant that our judge Gordan Haran had a difficult if not impossible job of assessing movement. However Tuva (Harlistream Ellerstina) still managed to get a 3rd in Minor Puppy and a 4th in Puppy bitch, thus qualifying her for Crufts ! Today wasn't Jive's day and she went unplaced in Limit. We were really pleased with Tuva's first Championship show and the very difficult conditions she showed in, we were all very glad to get home that day !

Yesterday we attended Beckenham Open Show in Maidstone, Kent. Our judge was Manita Busser-Jager from Holland. Another wet day, but at least we had a decent wet weather ring this time ! Chance (Harlistream Astrada) won puppy, Tuva was 3rd, and then Jive (Clandrift Dirty Dancing at Harlistream) was 2nd in Open. Congratulations on the winners of the day, to Brian & Gill Broadbent with Blackshyne Super Trouper JW ShCM who went Best of Breed, Celia Taite with Gayplume Bowled Over who won Reserve Best of Breed and of course to Lorraine Connor and our own Harlistream Astrada who went Best Puppy In Breed.

Harlistream puppies First Show

Today was the Harlistream puppies first ever show, they recently turned 6 months old, so attended Eastbourne Open Show held at the South of England Showground. The judge was Carla Hawes whom had an entry of 15 Flatcoats.

Tuva (Harlistream Ellerstina) won Puppy and Best Puppy In Breed, Chance (Harlistream Astrada) was 2nd in Puppy and Jive (Clandrift Dirty Dancing at Harlistream) won Open. I was very proud of everyone, they showed beautifully, and have matured into lovely, happy puppies.

After the show we had a little photo session, we were joined by Georgie (Blue Boy), so both brothers, sister and mother got to have a play whilst the owners enjoyed some celebration cup cakes !

Jet goes Reserve Best In Show !

We were very proud and excited to hear from Jet - Harlistream La Martina who lives with her new family on the Isles of Scilly. Jet and her owners attended the Isles of Scilly Fun Dog Show,  where she won Prettiest Bitch & Reserve Best In Show. Huge congratulations to Jet from all of her Harlistream family xx

Southern Counties Championship Show

We had another nice day at Southern Counties show under Pamela Stanley (Hallbent). On the day I showed Mac, Madison and Ash.

Oaksenriver Rimac - 1st Yearling Dog
Withybed New Yorker at Harlistream - VHC Veteran Dog
Pinebank Eskimo Dream - 1st Veteran Bitch

All showed their socks off, I was really pleased with Ash on winning her Veteran class, Ash is owned and bred by Karen, Emma & Ruth Taylor of Pinebank fame, this win qualified her for Crufts 2013. The Taylor's also own Glenturret Gossip Girl whom was showed by her breeder Terri Durrant, Acer came 2nd in Junior Bitch also qualifying her for Crufts. So a fabulous day was had by the Pinebank Team ! This was our last show for the next couple of months, however we will be back showing again in the late summer.

Bath Championship Show

We spent a lovely day at Bath Championship show, a show more notorious for horrific weather enjoyed an unusually glorious day. The showground is always turned out immaculately, very short grass, well planned and also ring tape pinned to the ground rather than at hip height, all which make this show a favourite. Our judge was breed specialist Lyn Strudwick (Burpham) who had an entry of 130. The boys were in attendance and rather enjoyed themselves. Mac was in Yearling dog, he showed wonderfully, I was very proud of him, however today was not his day and he went away cardless. However Madison also showed his socks off and was awarded 3rd in Veteran Dog. It was a lovely show, very relaxed, we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine catching up with friends and watching the judging, a very different atmosphere to WELKS when everyone just wanted to go home !

New members of the team

Well the puppies are all going off to their new homes, we wish them all the best of luck, and can't wait to see how they grow.

Joining our team are Harlistream Astrada otherwise known as Chance. Chance is co-owned with Lorraine Connor, he is the sweetest little boy with such a happy disposition. The glass is always half full for Chance.

Staying with us is Harlistream Ellerstina, or Tuva to her friends. Tuva is certainly full of life and mischief, she is already making herself known to our other dogs. I hope she will learn some manners from her mother !

WELKS Championship Show

What a day ! I think WELKS had the worst weather EVER ! Torrential rain, freezing cold temperatures, and rivers of mud were the order of the day. Judy Showell was judging Flatcoats and we had a very productive day.
Withybed New Yorker at Harlistream - 5th Veteran Dog
Oaksenriver Rimac - 2nd Yearling Dog
Oaksenriver Atico - 3rd Yearling Bitch
These placings for Mac and Atty mean that they have now qualified for Crufts 2013 ! We are thrilled that Madison's children have done so well, and look forward to the whole team attending Crufts next year. We were very thankful to get home and warm up !

Puppies : Week 5/6 Update

It has been super busy here at Harlistream, the puppies are getting big now, and require a lot of attention! Time is flying by, it saddens us to think we will not have them for much longer, as they will be starting their adventures in their new homes. They are all feeding really well, and loving their Eukanuba, they are on four meals a day, and have tried mince meat, scrambled egg, coley and chicken.

The puppies have had lots and lots of visitors, and thoroughly enjoyed all their cuddles, especially from their prospective new owners!

The puppies have really taken to their cage, and quite often sleep in there, they also have far too many toys, so there is never a dull moment in the puppy room. It becomes quite horrendous when all 9 are charging around the puppy room !

Exploring their surroundings

A visit from Harlistream Montana Mirage

We were thrilled yesterday when Miss Molly Casdagli came to visit. Harlistream Montana Mirage was from our first litter by Withybed New Yorker at Harlistream x Gemswin Eternal Flame at Harlistream. It was wonderful to see her, she really is the image of her mother, and you can see Grandpa Ferris in her as well.

Puppies : Week 4 Update

I don't know where the time has gone, the puppies are 4 weeks old today and are so beautiful. Their teeth have come through, so are keen to test them out ! They are eating their Eukanuba puppy food really well, and just love to lay in it whilst eating. They are really starting to play with each other now, and like to bite each others tails. Their little characters are really starting to stand out now, they are such fun to watch. Now they are 4 weeks old visitors have started arriving for their cuddles. Over the next week or so they will certainly have lots of cuddles !

We've extended their whelping box into a large pen, complete with a small dog bed and a large cage. They have lots of space to play in, they love to lay behind the dog bed .. rather than in it ! The puppies are also getting used to the cage, Pale Blue Girl in particular likes to go and sleep in there. As the puppies are bigger they have now outgrown their old soft foam collars, and now wear their very smart dotty collars. I hope when the puppies go to their new homes they won't mind wearing a proper collar as they have been used to their little soft ones.

I will continue to update their Flickr album http://www.flickr.com/photos/harlistream/sets/72157629580208719/

Lilac Girl loves her food so much she likes to sit on it first !

Puppies : Week 3 Update

Well the puppies are certainly growing ! They are all walking around and very interested in their surroundings. A few are determined to climb out of the whelping box, especially Orange Girl ! They are really becoming little dogs now, they play with each other and bite each others faces and legs. We have begun weaning, they will be reared on a very high quality puppy food made by Eukanuba. As you can imagine most end up laying in the food bowls, and probably wearing a bit more food than they consume. We look forward to having them outside in the garden in the next week or so, so they can start experiencing the world.

Puppies : Week 2 Update

The puppies are really growing, they're eyes are open, however they will not be able to see and focus for another week or so. They are sitting up, and also try and walk or I should say wobble. They are so funny to watch, they are trying to walk but just end up wobbling all over the place and falling to the ground. They really are beautiful little people. Puppies: 1 week update

The puppies are 1 week old today ! They are all doing really well, feeding well and putting on weight. Their little characters are starting to emerge, we are having great fun watching their antics, and the pandemonium which ensues when they wake up and all want to feed at once.

Follow this link to their photo album on Flickr, I will post regular photo updates on this page.

Puppies have arrived !

The maternity unit at Harlistream is in full swing with the arrival of Jive's puppies. On the 12th March Jive gave birth to 9 healthy puppies, 6 bitches and 3 dogs. They are by INTCH SU(u)CH NUCH Black Mica's That's Enough, we are very proud to have the first litter in the UK to be sired by a Black Mica's dog, and were also the first kennel in the UK to travel abroad to have a natural mating with a stud dog in Sweden.

Mother and puppies are thriving, we will watch their growth with avid fascination, and look forward to getting to know their little characters. Follow this blog to watch their progress and see photo updates.

Crufts 2012

Another year, another Crufts, this year we were not able to attend with our team, as Madison was not fit enough, and Jive is about to have her puppies. So we went with the Oaksenriver team consisting of Rimac and Atico, son and daughter of our Madison. The judges this year were Ann Youens (dogs) and Sue Kearton (bitches).

Mac was handled by myself in Yearling Dog, and Atty was in Yearling Bitch, both showed superbly, however today was not their day. They both performed wonderfully, but need a little more time to mature. Atty in particular enjoyed her outing at her very first Crufts !

 Atty at Crufts

Our bench mates Team Pinebank had a successful day, Riley (Pinebank Bossanova) was placed 5th in a very large and strong Veteran class. A fabulous win for Riley, however he was more impressed I think with his celebratory stuffed toy bought for him !

The humans also had a lovely day, with much shopping done (lots of things for the impending litter) throughout the 5 halls at Crufts. So now the new show year has commenced, the qualification process for Crufts 2013 begins afresh, wish us luck ! Also very good luck to all our friends on a successful 2012 season.

Exciting Litter News !

There is great excitement here at Harlistream. Today Jive (Clandrift Dirty Dancing at Harlistream) was confirmed in whelp, with puppies due in March 2012. The sire is a beautiful dog whom we fell in love with last year, he is Linda Edberg's INTCH SU(u)CH NUCH Black Mica's That's Enough. Sune is a beautiful boy with the sweetest nature, we cannot wait for the puppies, and fingers crossed all continues well. Bookings are now being taken, so feel free to email me at rcdavies84@gmail.com to be considered for a puppy.
